Mills County Tribune:
Mrs.Joseph Baker was born in Belmont County, Ohio on Sep 7, 1838, and died Jun 8, 1915, at the home of her daughter Mrs. William Ethherington after a severe illness of five weeks duration. She was the daughter of Annie and Levi Martin and was one of a family of eight children. Her parents left Ohio when she was a year old and moved to Marysville, MO where she grew to womanhood. On July 15, 1855, she was united in marriage to Joseph T. Baker. To them were born nine children, six of whom survive her - William Baker of Roosevelt, Okla; James Baker of Baldwin, Kansas; George Baker of Snyder, Colorado; Mrs Taylor Iddings of Kent, Washington; Mrs Wm. Etherington of Pacific City, Iowa; and Mrs Geo. Townsend of Council Bluffs. The family moved to Pacific City in March, 1873, where they have lived ever since. On December 13, 1911, she was called to mourn the loss of her husband,
Joseph T. Baker. Mrs. Baker was a member of the Methodist Church at Martin's Chapel and was a good friend and a kind neighbor. The burial was in the Glenwood cemetery.
