William Bacon FitzJerrell was born on October 3, 1815 in Warren County, OH. He was the son of Eli(Ely) FitzJerrell and Tabitha Kelsey. About 1830 he moved to the Greene/Macoupin County Illinois area. He married Elizabeth Courtney on November 10, 1836 in Greene County, Illinois. William Bacon was a judge, farmer in Montgomery County and an Elder in the Primitive Baptist Church. Elizabeth and William had at least seven children; William, Tabitha-Ash, Cyrus, Naomi-Lawler, Harriet-Thomas, Gennetty and Meredith (David) FitzJerrell. After Elizabeth's death in 1883 he married Keziah (maiden name unknown), William is buried next to Elizabeth in the Asbury Cemetery.
