Harriet Arabella Chipman was the daughter of Daniel Chapin Chipman and Philena Almira Calkins. Her paternal grandparents were Cyrus Chipman and Anna Fitch. Her great-uncles were U.S. Senator Nathaniel Chipman and U.S. Rep Daniel Chipman of Vermont.

Harriet had three daughters that survived: Nell, Eva and Mary Etta and one daughter, Lulu, who died as an infant. She also had one son named Albert.

Her tombstone at the Hanover/Plymouth cemetery has an incorrect date on it. Harriet died in 1887, not 1877. She is in the 1880 census and she delivered her last child, Lulu, in 1881.

Her parents are buried nearby but without markers, so their exact location in this cemetery is unknown.
