Dr. harry D. Danforth, 79, Cissna park, died at 5:20 PM, Thursday, September 10, 1987, at the Iroquois memorial Hospital, Watseka.
He was born August 12, 1908, in Onarga Township to Arthur and Minnie Cultra Danforth. He married Sarah Shear on Dec. 31, 1930 in Chicago. She survives.
Other survivors include one son, Art of Cissna Park; one sister, Dorothy Polson of Palmyra, Wis; one brother Paul of Robert, IL; three grandchildren, Brent and Wade of Cissna park, Kirk of Virginia, ILL and three great-grandchildren, Corinne and Whitney Danforth of Cissna Park, and Dane Danforth of Virginia, IL.
He was proceeded in death by one sister and one son.
Dr. Danforth was a member of the Cissna Park Methodist Church, He served in World War II as a first Lieutenant in the Army Dental Corp. He was a 50 year member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge and of the Masonic Lodge Numbers 1063 and 446. He was also a member and past president of the Cissna Park American legion, and was a charter member of the lakeview Country club.
He served on the Cissna park school board as president for 10 years and as a past president of The Lion Club. He served on The Iroquois Memorial hospital board for two terms. He graduated from Loyola University in 1937. Dr. Danforth practiced dentistry in Cissna Park for 43 years. He was a past president of the Illinois State Dental society, he served on the National board of Dental Examiners, and he was a member of the American and International college of Dentistry.
Services will be at 2 P.M. Sunday at the Cissna Park Methodist Church with the Rev. Harry Elwood officiating. Burial will be in the Thawville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. Saturday at the Knapp funeral home, Cissna Park.
