CHARLES E. KECKLER, 84, of Highfield, Md., died at 11:15 Tuesday night at his home. He had been in ill health for the last year and was critically ill and confined to his bed for the last two months.
He was born at Rock Forge, the son of James and Melinda (Mentzer) Keckler. His early life was lived in the vicinity of Edgemont, Md., and he resided for the last 41 years in Highfield.
He was a carpenter by trade and followed that occupation all his life. He had been retired since 1940.
He was a member of St. Stephen's Evangelical and Reformed Church of Highfield.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Ridenour Keckler; the following children, Charles L. Keckler of York, Omar W. Keckler of Blue Ridge Summit and Mrs. L. J. Sanders of Waynesboro; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. He was the last of his family.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from St. Stephen's Evangelical and Reformed Church in charge of Rev. C. H. Corl. Burial will be made in Harbaugh's cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday evening from 7 until 9 at the Grove Funeral Home and at the church Friday from 2:30 o'clock until the hour of service.
