On March 16, 1893, Charles was united in marriage to Ella Mae Montgomery, and to this union, two sons were born, the older passing away in infancy, and buried in the Morrillville Cemetery. The younger boy, Reuben, was born November 5, 1898 on a farm near Morrillville where they lived till about 1900 when Charles bought the acreage near Bloomfield where he resided till his death, October 9, 1950. His wife Ella had proceeded him in death on April 23, 1924. He was 83 years old at death and she was 56.
In 1904, Charles became a rural mail carrier on Route 4, then 28 miles long which he drove with mules/horses until a few years before he retired. He carried the mail for 28 years retiring in 1932.
