Susan Jones was the fourth of eleven children born to James and Susannah (Wagoneer) Jones. Along with her parents and siblings, she and her husband Simon Huggins made the overland journey to Ohio in 1821 and settled in Marion County after receiving a land grant.

Mother of Ellen, John, Elizabeth, Lucette, William, Nancy, Simon, Rebecca, Noah, Laura, and Charles Huggins.

Her grave was relocated to Marion Cemetery in the 1860s.
