Arnold Cortelyou McPike and Evelyn Lucille Nash were united in marriage on Wednesday, May 3, 1944 by Reverand Dana S. MacDonald, Minister of the First Christian Church, 311 Park Ave., Kent, Ohio. According to the marriage license application, neither person was married before. The marriage license application number was 21935 issued by Portage County, Ohio.

EVELYN LUCILLE NASH BECOMES BRIDE OF MARINE CORPS SERGEANT WEDNESDAY

Carrying a bouquet of white lillies and sweet peas with her going-away corsage of orchids tucked into the center, Miss Evelyn Lucille Nash, Kent-Ravenna Rd., became the bride of Platoon Sgt. Arnold C. McPike of the United State Marine corps Wednesday night at the First Christian Church.
The bride was given in marriage by her father, Edward Nash. Rev. Dana S. Mac Donald, pastor, read the vows at the 7:30 o'clock candlelight ceremony.
Miss Josephine MacDonald played a 15-minute organ recital preceding the nuptials. The couple was attended by Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Carson of Kent as best man and matron of honor. Floyd MacFarland of Kent and Kenneth Nash of Cleveland, brother of the bride, were ushers.
Miss Nash wore a white satin gown with appliqued neckline and a waist-length veil. Mrs. Carson chose a powder blue chiffon dress with gathered bodice and carried a bouquet of pink carnations an sweet peas.
A reception of the newlyweds was held at the church for relatives and close friends. The bridal table was decorated with spring flowers and a three-tiered wedding cake.
Sergeant and Mrs. McPike left for a short wedding trip. The bridegroom is on leave from Quantico, Va. He has served in the marines for 19 years and was formerly stationed in Puerto Rico. Mrs. McPike is a graduate of Kent State High School, former student at Cleveland college and is now employed as an inspector at Goodyear Aircraft corporation.
