"JAMES BENEDICT MATTINGLY, retired Nelson County farmer, died of a heart ailment at 4:10 p.m. last Thursday at Flaget Memorial Hospital, Bardstown, where he was admitted four day earlier. He was a 76 year old native, of the St. Francis section of Marion County, a son of Bart and Catherine Davis Mattingly. His wife, who survives, is the former Miss Mary Ada Mattingly. Other survivors include three sons, Marty and Clyde Mattingly, Loretto and Raphael Mattingly, Bardstown; four daughters, Mrs. Walter Jackson and Mrs. Everett Jackson, both of New Haven; Mrs. James Thornberry, Shepherdsville, and Miss Inez Mattingly, Bardstown; two brothers, Edward Mattingly, St. Francis, and John Mattingly, Holy Cross and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Mattingly and Mrs. Bob Nalley, both of Lebanon. The body was at Mattingly Funeral Home, Loretto, until 9 a.m. Saturday when funeral services were conducted by the Rev. John Talbott Spalding at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Buried in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, St. Francis, Ky.; Cemetery 2; Section 20."

"James Benedict Mattingly, 76, of Bardstown, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bart Mattingly of Marion County, died Thursday, February 26, at 4:06 p.m. at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He had suffered a heart attack Tuesday morning. Mr. Mattingly had been in ill health for the last year. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mary Ada Mattingly; three sons, Joseph Raphael Mattingly, Bardstown; Thomas Clyde Mattingly, St. Francis; William Marty Mattingly, Loretto; four daughters, Mrs. Everett Jackson, Lyons; Mrs. Herman Jackson, New Haven; Mrs. Joseph H. Thornsberry, Shepherdsville; Miss Inez Mattingly, Bardstown; two brothers, Edward Mattingly, St. Francis; Johnny Mattingly, Holy Cross; two sisters, Mrs. Bob Nalley and Mrs. John Mattingly of Lebanon; several grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. with Requiem High Mass, at St. Francis. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews, Willie Mattingly, David Carol Mattingly, Wilson Lucas, Kenneth Mattingly, Elmer Nalley, Leo Nalley."
