Mrs. Sarah J. Wright
A short funeral service over the body of Mrs. Sarah J. Wright was held Monday afternoon at the residence of her son, William Wright, 448 Julia street, conducted by Rev. E. M .Smith of the First Christian church. The body was taken Tuesday to Woburn for burial beside the body of her husband. A funeral service there was also conducted by Mr. Smith.
Sarah Jett was born March 10, 1837, in Jett Prairie, Bond county. She was united in marriage March 23, 1859, to William G. Wright, who died July 9, 1905.
To this union were born eight children, four of whom died in infancy. Those living are Mrs. Mary Isley of Woburn, Mrs. Lula M. Isley of Woburn, Lulu E. Wright of East St. Louis and William G. Wright, the youngest son, who lives in Decatur. One sister, Mrs. Eliza Tabor of this city, also sixteen grandchildren survive.
Mrs. Wright had been a member of the Christian church for over forty years. The church has lost a friend for it was the greatest desire of her heart to know of its growth and prosperity.
Mrs. Wright had lived in Decatur but a short time, but had made many friends because of her Christian graces and contented devotion.
