LONNIE Maye KELLY, 86, of Winfield, passed away Thursday evening, June 18, 2009 at William Newton Hospital.
Born December 22, 1922 on a farm in Latham, Kansas, she was the daughter of Harry J and Bessie B. (Baldwin) Amlong. She attended grade school at Hickory Center Country School and graduated in 1939 from Latham High School.

Lonnie was united in marriage to Charles A. Kelly on December 11, 1942 in El Dorado, Kansas. The couple moved to Winfield in 1946 and to New Salem in 1974. They moved back to Winfield in 1993. Charles preceded her in death on May 22, 1994.

She worked at the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center for many years retiring in 1985. She enjoyed camping and fishing and just lived for her family.

Her family includes: Her daughters: Gloria Davis and husband, Marty of Winfield; Gwenda Spencer and husband, Fred of Oxford; and Brenda Biddle and husband, Nathan of Arkansas City; Her grandchildren: Jeff, Jeanne, Jamie, Rachel, Shana, Monica, Erika, Lukas and Lucy; Her 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lonnie was preceded in death by her daughter, Tammy Hasty and her sister, Betty Gilbert.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Wilmot Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5 to 9.

A Memorial has been established in Lonnie's name for the American Disabled Veterans. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
