After a courageous and inspiring battle with cancer that touched the hearts of many, Flo passed away peacefully, in the arms of Jesus and Mary, surrounded by family on June 8, 2009. Flo, devoted wife, mother, fun-loving grandmother and great-grandmother was born February 10, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. O'Hara. She is survived by her second husband, Robert DeEsso; her daughters, Theresa O'Hara, Eileen Urann and Catherine Waco; her son, Edward O'Hara; her sister, Diana Mayer; her brother, Philip Shivell; twenty-one grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Flo was a generous and loving person filled with a contagious spirit for living life to the fullest. Everyone will remember her love for the ocean and her favorite hobby, boogie-boarding on the waves. During her 30 year struggle with cancer, she inspired her family and friends with her zeal for her precious Catholic Faith and her positive outlook on life. She will be dearly missed by both family and friends and the countless lives she has touched. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be sent to Mount St. Michael Grotto Fund, to carry on Flo's labor of love at Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto.
