Noah served in the US Army as a Private First Class during World War II 7th and 17th Infantry 1941-1945. He was a purple heart recipient for wounds he received in Okinawa. His daughter reported that he had been hit across the back by a mortar round that fell in a foxhole and killed his best friend.
