Muscatine, Ia., April 12,--Funeral services were conducted this afternoon at the Fairbanks Home for Funerals for Leon Leroy Essex, 44, who died at the Muscatine County home late Saturday night. Services were conducted by the Rev. Ira B. Hawley of the United Brethren church. Burial was at the Essex cemetery.
Mr. Essex was born in Rock Island County May 8, 1888, the son of Wiley and Matilda Davidson Essex. He married Pearl Harker 21 years ago. Mr. Essex had made his home in Muscatine for about 34 years.
Surviving are his widow; two sons, Robert and Edward Essex both of Muscatine; two brothers, Eli Essex of Davenport and William Essex who lives in Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Sadie Brewer, Fairport; and one half-brother, Oliver Terry, of Muscatine.
Burial: Essex Cemetery, Drury Township, Rock Island County, Illinois
Note when he died he was divorced. The name Sadie should be Sarah. Sarah was my g/mother.
