He was born Sept. 11, 1936, in Granby, Mo., to Samuel Henry "Sam" and Reon A. Wyatt Hamilton. He married Lola Elliott on July 22, 1956, in Pekin, and she survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Mike (Libby) Hamilton and Dave (Laurie) Hamilton, both of Independence, Kan., and Jim (Debbie) Hamilton of Joplin, Mo.; one daughter, Becky (Kevin "Mike") Burgess of Tremont; four brothers, Cecil (Nadine) Hamilton, Harold (Wanda) Hamilton, John (Norma) Hamilton and Tom (Earlene) Hamilton; six sisters, Letha Howard, Ethel (Norm) Oney, Clara (Warren) Jones, Josephine (Don) Counterman, Mary (Dave) Corn and Barbara (Lew) Forman; two stepbrothers, Joedy (Margaret) Allen and Don (Patty) Allen; and three stepsisters, Norma Calaway, Ann (Pablo) Alvarado and Lois (George) Parker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, one stepbrother and one great-grandson.
Jim worked at LeTourneau Westinghouse from 1955 until his retirement in 1992.
He was a member of Bible Holiness Church in South Pekin, where he served as an ordained minister and did evangelical work from 1992 to 1997.
Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Tremont.
