Wife of Chester SistlerMrs. Julia M. Sistler, age 96, of Batavia, formerly of St. Charles, died Wednesday evening in Delnor Hospital in Geneva, IL.
    She was born Dec. 12, 1904 in Simpson, IL.
    Before her retirement in the 70's, she was employed at Fox Valley Cleaners in St. Charles for 30 years. Mrs. Sistler's strong faith in the Lord helped her in her illness the last several months. She relied on Him daily for the strength she needed. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Batavia. Julia will be dearly missed by her daughter and son-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
    She is survived by one daughter, Marilyn (Donald A.) Vanthournout of St. Charles; one sister, Helen Hodges of Batavia; two grandchildren, Donald Brian Vanthournout of St. Charles and Amy Geyer of St. Charles; two great-grandchildren, Kirstie and David Geyer.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester in 1971; her parents, Vernal and Lydia Palmer; four step-daughters, Marguerite Hoorelbek, Louise Sistler, Inas Northrop and Gwen Gillespie; one brother, Raymond Palmer; and five sisters, Dozie Veach, Molly Fort, Edna Evitts, Lu Johnson, and Elnora Jobe.
    Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 30, 2001 at the First Baptist Church in Batavia. Rev. Richard Watts officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the church until the funeral hour.
    In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church building fund, 15 N. Washington, Batavia, IL. 60510 or the Hospice of Dupage, 690 E. North Ave. (Rt. 64), Carol Stream, IL. 60188.
