MICHIGAN CITY - Cuba Jewel Kroening, 88, Michigan City, passed away at 10:23 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009, in St. Anthony Memorial.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte, with the Rev. Silas Christian officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Lake Cemetery.

There will be no visitation. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City handled arrangements.

She was born July 25, 1920, in Kankakee Township, Indiana to the late Seldon and Carrie (Sullivan) Bull. On November 11, 1950, in La Porte, she married Charles Kroening who preceded her in death on November 7, 2003.

Surviving are friends, Rev. Silas and Elsie Christian of Dade City, Fla., and Sue and Bob Gust of Michigan City; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Charlene Kroening; a sister, three brothers, and a nephew.

She loved to play the piano and Casio keyboard.
