TORRINGTON — Almira E. (Hulme) Bunnell, 98, formerly of Torringford West St., died Monday, June 22, 2009, at Valerie Manor. She was the widow of the late Claude K. Bunnell. She was born April 12, 1911, to the late Charles S. and Grace (Allen) Hulme in Thomaston, and attended school in Thomaston.

Mira loved her garden, flowers, music and writing poetry. She played the piano and had been a member of the Litchfield County Singles Club, having held several offices. An 84-year member of the Beacon Grange in Northfield, she loved to bake and then exhibit her tasty creations as well as her vegetables and flowers at local fairs.

She is survived by her son, Ernest and his wife, Linda, of Northfield; a daughter, Eunice Anderson and her companion, Vincent Forese, of Washington; four grandchildren, David, Teresa, William and Susan; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Myrtle Walker of Northfield; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a great-granddaughter.

A funeral service will be held noon Wednesday at Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield. Burial will follow in Northfield Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. prior to the service.

In lieu, of flowers, donations may be made to Northfield Fire Dept. Building Fund, 12 Main St., Northfield, CT 06778.
