Marie Childs Armstrong

A retired nurses aide at Lake City Health Care Center, Marie Childs Armstrong, 71, died July 11 at her home on Beech Grove Rd, Lake City Rt. 2 of cancer.

Mrs. Childs had worked at the Center for nine years. She was born in Knoxville, Iowa, to the late John Tillman and Elizabeth Hardwick Childs. She had lived in Anderson County for approximately 50 years. She was a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, William and Marsha Armstrong of Lake City; a sister, Juanita Parks of Lake City; three brothers, Herbert Childs of Detroit, MI, James E. Childs of Burnside, KY, and George Childs of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service were held Friday night in the chapel of Cox Funeral Home in Lake City with the Rev. Tom Aiken officiating. Graveside services were Sunday at Oak Grove Cemetery.
