Dulcia Amanda Hathcoat
Daughter of James K. Polk Hathcoat and Juliet Alphaline Roberts Hathcoat.
Born 1895 in Boone County, AR, married Doley Onslo Booker 1912 Cherokee County IT.
Moved to IT (Oklahoma) with her family 1898 or 1899 was here in Oklahoma on the 1900 census. Her Dad James K Polk Hathcoat traded his farm for a wagon and team and $40 (the man never sent the 40 dollars and James never went back for it.) There were 4 or 5 family's who made the trip together to Oklahoma at this time. His brother William Hathcoat, Cotton eyed Smith, who was kin Baileys family, and others.
All on the word of of one son who came out here went back told all the family how good it was in Oklahoma. I was told it was Charles son of James Polk Hathcoat and some thought it was John son of William Hathcoat. Any way he must have been a good talker as 4 or 5 family's sold out and came to IT to get rich.
They came by wagon camping out and cooking over camp fires along the way it took 2 or 3 weeks to make the trip 200 miles. With Horses, milk cows, chickens, dogs, kids and everything they could tie on as one trip was all they made. One man had 2 or 3 pigs in a crate tied under his wagon with his chickens. I understand it came a hard rain and they had to camp by the water until the water went down so that they could cross the stream as there was no bridge to cross over on.
Dulcie Hathcoat Booker had 3 daughters Myrtle Lea, Verna Dean, and Elsie Idesia Booker married James Horn.
Dulcia and her husband Doley Booker moved to CA around 1940 with a team of mules and a rubber tired wagon around 2000 miles cooking and camping along the way must have taken weeks. They broke up out there I was told her half brother Joe Hathcoat sold his last hogs to send her the money to come back to Oklahoma. Dulcia is buried at the Fort Gibson Army cemetery
on top of Doley Booker.
