Rev. Henry Theodore Schroeder was born in Tours, Texas, the second child of Theodore and Elizabeth (Roessler) Schroeder. He attended grade school there. He attended St. Louis High School in San Antonio, Texas and completed his college and seminary work at St. Mary's University in La Porte, Texas.

Rev. Schroeder was ordained in St. Mary's Cathedral, Galveston, Texas by Rt. Rev. C.E. Byrne, D.D. on Friday, June 1, 1928. He celebrated his First Solemn Mass at St. Martin's Church in Tours, Texas on Tuesday, June 5, 1928.

Father Schroeder had numerous parishes in the Galveston Diocese and was pastor at Lampasas for a number of years. His last pastorates were at Danberry and Waverly. He spent four years in retirement due to ill health, prior to his death.

Rev. Henry T. Schroeder died at 8 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 1967, at the age of 67, at The Regis Retirement Center, 400 Austin Ave., Waco, McLennan County, Texas. He apparently suffered a heart attack.
