Lena A. Barkman, March 21, 1901 - Feb. 9, 1994, Lena Annabelle BARKMAN, 92, 827 W. 13th St., died at 1:50 a.m. today at Life Care Center of Rochester where she had been a resident since 1987. She was born in Rochester to Samuel and Sarah MERRILL WENGER. She was a lifetime resident of the Rochester community. On April 5, 1935 in Rochester she marrid Boyd R. BARKMAN who died Marcy 18, 1974. She was a graduate of Talma High School and the Indiana State Teachers College in Terre Haute. She was an elementary school teacher for over 50 years having taught in the Akron, Leiters Ford, Talma and Mentone school systems. She was a member of the Riverview Community Church in Talma. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Kathryn) YOUNG, Naperville, Ill.; a grandson, Scott A. YOUNG, Naperville, Ill.; a niece, Haila Jane O'NEILL, Greenfield, and a nephew, Daniel WENGER, Denver, Colo. Preceding in death were two sisters and a brother. Services wil be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rochester. Burial will be in the Rochester I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday and after noon on Friday. Memorials may be made to the Riverview Community Church.
