Milton Ackerman 9 Killed Wednesday in Deer Hunter Mishap
Milton Leroy Hunt Mishap
Milton Leroy Ackerman nine year son of Cornelius Jessie Ackerman and Mrs Lilly Micheau Ackerman was killed Wednesday afternoon on a deer drive. Young Ackerman had gone hunting with his father and friends only three quarters of a mile from his home on Groverman Road.
According to investigating officers the boy’s deer stand was by a stump. The single barrel gun apparently slipped from his arms hit the stump and discharged its load of buckshot into his left arm and side. Georgetown Sheriff Woodrow Carter and Coroner John A Broach investigated the accident and said no incident would be held.
Milton was born in Georgetown on August 17 1958. He was a student in the Fourth Grade of McDonald School and a member of the Sunday School at East Side Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving are his parents a brother Roger Dale Ackerman and two sisters Miss Patricia Ann Ackerman and Mrs. Harris Carter; and his maternal grandmother Mrs Sarah V Micheau of Chester.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon in the East Side Free Will Baptist Church. Officiating were the Rev R V Lawrimore and the Rev Arthur Graham. Burial followed in the Elmwood Cemetery Annex under the direction of the Mayer Funeral Home.
