Amy was a delightful child... always smiling, even when she was sick. Her name means "friend", and she was. The young ones at church loved her because she was the only teenager who would talk to them. The old ones loved her because she took time with them. The rest of us just plain loved her.

She sang all the time... to the point her brothers would say, "That's enough!" Basically shy, as a junior in high school she found the courage to try out for the high school choir... not just any choir, but the top "a capella" choir. There was a lot of competition to get into that choir, and the director gave preference to those he knew had experience. He did not know Amy had any experience, but was so impressed with her singing he placed her in the first chair so others could learn from her.

She was just beginning to realize how good she was when she died.

Now I picture her singing in heaven's choir.
