"Jasper Atwood, aged 85 years, 2 months, 1 day, died at the home of his son, Thomas Atwood, seven miles northwest of the city yesterday morning at 5 o'clock of old age.
The funeral service will be held today at the Cedar Grove church at 11 o'clock. Rev. Isaac Emberry of Indianola and Rev. Thomas Snyder of Pilot will conduct the services. Interment in the Pentecost Cemetery.
Mr. Atwood was born in Kentucky, August 19, 1813. When only a mere babe his parents moved to Ohio, and in 1827, to Vermilion County, Illinois, where he has passed the remainder of his useful life. He leaves two sisters, two sons, and two daughters to mourn his death.
Mr. Atwood was one of the oldest settlers of this county and is known by a host of friends for his honest, straight-forward life."
