PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Milton Charles Tucker, 88, of Pensacola, Fla., died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 28, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home in Pensacola, Fla. Burial followed at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla., with full military honors.

Born Feb. 23, 1916, in Moultrie, Ga., Mr. Tucker was the son of the late Marion Lawrence Tucker and the late Mary Ida Key-Tucker. He was a retired aviation mechanic at the Naval Air Rework Facility at N.A.S. Pensacola, Fla., and was a lifelong Baptist. He was an avid quail hunter and fisherman, and he was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Pensacola Valley of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.

Mr. Tucker was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. His service included tours with Training Squadron 1B at Corry Field, CASU-32, CASU-6, Training Squadron 3C at N.A.S. Saufley Field, the Air Transport Squadron VR-8, the Airborne Early Warning Squadron 13 and N.A.S. Sigonelis in Sicily, Italy. He was an aircraft maintenance chief and served twice as leading chief of the Naval School of Preflight in Pensacola, Fla.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Ida Pearl Tucker; and eight brothers, Wiley Austin Tucker, John Frank Tucker, Marion Jackson Tucker, Roy Tucker, Woodrow Tucker, Ralph Tucker, Wilburn Tucker and Claude Tucker.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Virginia Foster Tucker; a daughter, Carolyn Matthews Pugh and husband Danny of Niceville, Fla.; a son, Charles Donald Tucker and wife Priscilla of Dothan, Ala.; five grandchildren, Kathy Tucker Duff of Raleigh, N.C., Jennifer Tucker-Lee and husband John of Dothan, Ala., Stephen Matthews and wife Lorie of Thomasville, Ga., Jason Matthews of Thomasville, Ga., and Ryan Matthews of Athens, Ga.; three great-grandchildren, McKenna and McClaine Matthews and Charles Tucker Lee; and several cousins, nieces and nephews .

The family requests contributions be made to Covenant Hospice of Pensacola, Fla., or to a favorite charity.
