Alvie Lee "Al" Abston -EATONTON - Alvie Lee "Al" Abston, 73, died Thursday, August 14, 2003 in his home. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 16 at 2:00 p.m. in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Visitation was Friday evening at McCullough Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Hospice of Central Georgia, P.O. Box 6533, Macon, GA 31208, or to the Al Sihah Shrine Builders Fund, P.O. Box 3147, Macon, GA 31205-3147. -Mr. Abston was born in Tuscaloosa County, AL. He was retired from civil service at Robins Air Force Base, where he had worked in Aircraft Production Control. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served our country for three years in the U.S. Army Air Force and for four years in the United States Navy. Mr. Abston was recognized as a 50-year Mason, a member of Tyrian Lodge #111. He was also a member of the Al Sihah Shrine Temple. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Alvielee Abston, and brother, Dale "Bullitt" Abston. -Survivors include his wife, Betty Abston, Eatonton; mother, Lillie Mae Ricketson, Warner Robins; children, Linda Gail Sorrow, Centerville; and Sharon Diane Wright and James Michael Abston, Warner Robins; grandchildren, David Alan Sorrow, North Carolina, and Lisa D.
