Landry James Hymel
A resident of White Castle, he died Monday, June 22, 2009, after a long battle with cancer at age 78. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and owned and operated Hymel's Contractors and Tree Service Inc. He was a member of the operating Engineers Local 406, White Castle Lion's Club, Louisiana Arborist Association, Marine Corps League - Choctaw Division and Iberville Parish School Board. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, White Castle, on Thursday, June 25, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Friday from 8 a.m. to 9:40 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, White Castle, on Friday at 10 a.m. with cremation service to follow. Survived by his two children, Danny and Lesa Hymel; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Hymel; two grandchildren, Cory and Caroline; two sisters-in-law, Olga and Ann Hymel; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his mother, Delta Landry Hymel Hernandez; father, Philip Hymel; stepfather, Charles Hernandez; son, Landry James Hymel Jr.; and brothers, Philip Hymel Jr. and Guy Hymel Sr.
