David R. Best, age 93, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 1996, at Life Care Center.
He was born Aug. 3, 1903, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, to John David and Laura Malinda (Gates) Best.
He married Ruth Brunton June 24, 1924, at the age of 22. He owned and operated restaurants in Okanogan, Omak and Quincy. He had several lifetime hobbies, among them were handcrafted violins, multiple inventions, hunting, fishing and he was an avid fiddle player. He was a resident of Cashmere for 15 years.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Darrold and Elizabeth Best of Wenatchee; daughter and son-in-law, Lenora and James Norris of Hayden Lake, Idaho; daughter and son-in-law Mona and Ray DeWitt of Colville; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, in 1981.
