Steiner Darby Garrett, Jr., M.D. - A native of Sylacauga, Alabama and a long time resident of Mobile, AL passed away on September 27, 2008. Dr. Garrett received a B.S. Degree in Pharmacy from Auburn University, an M.D. Degree from the Medical College of Alabama and completed a surgery residency at Old Mobile General Hospital. He was a member of Kappa Sigma Social Fraternity, Nu Sigma Nu, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society. Dr. Garrett was a Veteran of WWII, stationed in France and Germany. He served in the 818 Tank Destroyer Battalion and received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gay Jensen Garrett; two daughters, Joy (Jim) Skinner and Margaret (Mike) Jones of Equality, AL; two sons, Bruce Steiner Garrett and Gregory Lee (Fran) Garrett of Mobile, AL and two granddaughters, Alison Joy Garrett and Grace Jensen Garrett. A private family funeral was held on September 29, 2008 at the Pine Crest Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Cottage Hill Presbyterian Church located at 4201 Cottage Hill Road, Mobile, AL 36609, or the charity of your choice.
