After the death of his brother Charles in 1903, Luther adopted his niece Bonnie Jean Berry.
"Luther L. Berry, 68 years old, formerly of Newcastle, died this morning at 2:45 o'clock at his home in Parker, Ind. following an illness of about three weeks duration.
Mr. Berry had spent the greater part of his life in Newcastle and was well known here. He formerly operated a barber shop here.
He is survived by two sons, Roy, of Parker, and Harry, of Bay City, Mich., in addition to Carl C. Berry, a brother of Newcastle. Mr. Berry was called to Parker last night.
The body is to be returned to Newcastle for services at the First Christian church Sunday afternoon and interment in Southmound cemetery. The time of the services has not been definitely set, but is to be announced later."
