Harold Hitt, 93, formerly of Wyoming, died Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, in Tavares, Fla.
Mr. Hitt was born in West Wyoming, a son of the late Robert and Edith (Crosby) Hitt.
He was a graduate of West Wyoming High School. Mr. Hitt started a small lumber business that later became The Hitt Pallet Company in Tunkhannock. He also owned Hitt's Market of Wyoming which later became Lewis's Market. Mr. Hitt resided in Wyoming until he relocated to Florida after his retirement. His summers were spent at his cottage on Lake Carey. Mr. Hitt was a member of the Wyoming Rotary. He served as Club President and as District Governor of Rotary International. He was also a member of the Wyoming United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Janice Burritt; son, Donald; brother, Robert; and sister, Dorothy Lewis, May of 2004.
Surviving are sisters, Edith Jones, Tavares, Fla.; Ann Fletcher, of Laflin; nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family from the Metcalfe and Shaver Funeral Home Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wyoming United Methodist Church, 376 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, PA 18644.
