The annual pension list for Spartanburg County, carrying the names of 29 Confederate veterans and 146 widows of veterans, who will receive pensions this year from the state has been mailed to Judge Dewey D. Foster, of Probate Court.

CONFEDERATE VET TAKEN BY DEATH

WILLIAM F. PAGE DIES AT HOME NEAR LANDRUM; RITES THURSDAY

Landrum, May 15 -- Death claimed another member of the "thin, gray line" when William F. Page, 89, Confederate veteran and resident of Spartanburg County for the past 61 years, died Tuesday at his home near Landrum.

Mr. Page, who was a native of North Carolina, served in a North Carolina company under Captain Twitty during the Civil War. He was a member of the Jackson Grove Methodist Church where he attended services regularly as long as his health permitted.

Mr. Page was thrice married, his first wife being Miss Jane Smith. From this union, six sons survive, James Page, Kepton, Thomas Page, Landrum, John Page, Campobello, Route 2, Floyd Page, Spartanburg, H.W. Page, Landrum and Miles Page, Columbia.

His second wife was Martha Culbertson Davis and from this union one daughter survives, Mrs. Mae Pritchard, Landrum, Route 2.

In addition, he is survived by his widow, Mrs. Julia White Page, 26 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at the New Prospect Baptist Church at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon by the Rev. A.P. Howard assisted by the Rev. J.B. Connelly. Interment will follow in the Church yard.

The following grandsons will serve as pallbearers: William T. Page, J.O. Page, Paul Page, B.T. Page, Reginald Page and Roy Waldrop.

WILLIAM FRANKLIN PAGE

LANDRUM, May 15 -- William Franklin Page, 89, Confederate veteran, died at his home near Landrum at 1:30 o'clock this afternoon. He had been in declining health for several months.

Mr. Page was born and reared in North Carolina, the son of the late, Milton and Ann Atkins Page, but had been making his home in upper Spartanburg County for the last 61 years.

He served in the confederate army under Capt. Twitty. He was a devoted member of the Jackson Grove Methodist Church in upper Spartanburg County and was a faithful attendant as long as health permitted.

Mr. Page was married three times. His first wife was Mrs. Jane Smith Page. She died 35 years ago and from this union the following sons survive; James Page, Inman, Route 1; Thomas and H.W. Page, both of Landrum; Floyd Page, Spatanburg; J.L. Page, Campobello, Route 2 and Mills Page, Columbia.

His second wife was Mrs. Martha Culbreath Davis Page, who died about 25 years ago. One daughter, Mrs. May Pritchard, Landrum, Route 2, survives from this union.

His third wife, Mrs. Julia White, survives him, as do 26 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from New Prospect Baptist Church, Spartanburg County, by the Rev. A.T. Howard and the Rev. J.B. Connelly. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery by the side of his first wife.

The following grandsons will serve as active pallbearers: William Page, J.O. Page, Paul Page, B.T. Page, Reginald Page and Roy Waldrop.
