Born November 20, I913, he was a son of Mrs. Arlena Akers Newsome, of Dana, and the late Zat Akers. He was a retired miner and was a member of the Church of God.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his widow, Mrs. Laura Hurt Akers; two brothers, Narvil Akers, of Dana, and Edward Newsome, of Lorain, 0. ; four sisters, Mrs. Geneva Boyd and Mrs. Verneece Crum, both of Dana, Mrs. Eva Hunt, of Stanville, and Mrs. Anna Mae Crum, of Martin.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the Salem Regular Baptist Church at Dana by the Revs. Walter Akers, Francis Akers, and others. Burial was made in Davidson Memorial Gardens under direction of Hall Brothers Funeral
