FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR THOMAS H. PRATT AT HINCKLEY WARD CHAPEL
Funeral services were conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Hinckley Ward Chapel for Mr. Thomas H. Pratt, who died of a heart ailment in a Salt Lake hospital a week ago Wednesday. Bishop Ben H. Robison conducted the services. Speakers were: Stake President Joseph T. Finlinson, Rulon T. Hinckley and Nels L. Peterson. Music was furnished by the ward choir and solos by Mr. Ladd Cropper, Mrs. Evelyn Anderson and Mrs. Mark Reeve. The prayers were by Earl Bishop and William Pratt. Interment was in the Deseret cemetery. The grave was dedicated by Hugh Hilton.
Mr. Pratt was born on Dec. 3, 1873 at Duncan Retreat, the son of William and Ann Burgess Pratt. In 1887 he moved to Deseret. On Oct. 8, 1903 he was married to Jane Harmon in the Salt Lake Temple. He fulfilled a three year mission in the South Sea Islands. Mr. Pratt was active in church work all his life. He served in the bishopric for many years. He owned and operated a mercantile store - was engaged in farming and was always prominent in civic affairs. He was a Sunday School teacher for years, president of the YMMIA, served on the School Board and on the town board for many years. Mr. Pratt has had poor health for the past three years. In December, he and his wife moved to Salt Lake to do temple work. He was ill two weeks before his death.
He is survived by his wife, a brother, John Pratt of Manti, a sister, Elizabeth Wright of Hinckley and five sons, Victor of Long Beach, California, Ansel of Salt Lake, Claude of Fillmore, Paul of San Diego, California and Jessie of Salt Lake and a daughter Grace Pratt of Salt Lake. Those from out of town who were here for the funeral were: Mrs. and Mrs. Lawrence Pratt, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Pratt, Mrs. Rozetta Young and Mrs. Lizzie Pratt of Provo, Mrs. Mary L. Reeve, Mr. and Mrs. Ansel Pratt, Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Pratt and Major Golden Wright of Salt Lake, Mr. Pratt Wright and Mrs. Elizabeth Wright from Morgan, Mrs. Milo Harmon, Mr. and Mrs. Horace Harmon, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Harmon and Mr. and Mrs. W.S. Stevens from Holden, Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Seegmiller and Mr. and Mrs. James Jensen from Richfield, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Holman and Mrs. Hortense Petersen from Fillmore, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Pratt and family from Long Beach, California, Mrs. Evelyn Anderson from Nephi, Mr. Paul Pratt from San Diego, California and Miss Grace Pratt from Salt Lake.
