NEWS FROM COUNTY SEAT
Friends in this city were shocked on Friday to hear of the death of Mrs. Helen Oliver Matthews near Fruitland. Although they knew of her serious condition from tuberculosis, her death at this time was unexpected. Mrs. Matthews was a former teacher of Home Economics in our public schools and a much beloved young lady. Her disease was the result of influenza suffered over a year ago. She leaves her young husband, Joseph Matthews, and one sister, Miss Annie, a teacher at Bonne Terre, and four brothers; Arthur of St. Louis, John of Indianapolis, Charles C. of near Leemon, and Sloan of Caruthersville. The funeral will be held at Pleasant Hill Sunday forenoon.
