MABTON - Guadalupe Aguilar, 78, of Mabton, passed away Friday, August 6, 2004 at home surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Guadalupe was born Dec. 12, 1925 in Rosebud, Texas to Juan and Josephine (Cantu) Aguilar. As a youth, he worked as a bell boy. He moved to Washington in the 1940's where he worked for Boeing, Hanford and Northwest Glass Co. While at the glass company, Lupe invented an automated mold cleaner. He had an inventive mind that kept him busy.

Lupe married Phyllis Hernandez in 1985 in Sunnyside. Here, he farmed Mike Hernandez's land until he began his own trucking business, Aguilar's Sunset Trucking. He enjoyed traveling to California with family. He was a very generous and loving man.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Aguilar of Mabton; four sons, Lucio Aguilar of Renton, WA, Ramon Jose Aguilar of Kent, WA, Jesse Aguilar of Seattle, WA and Carlos Aguilar of Everett; two daughters, Lily Aguilar of Tacoma and Guadalupe Aguilar of Mabton; five step-sons, Frank (Marge) Galaviz Jr. of Sunnyside, Richard Galaviz of Tacoma, Tony (LeAnn) Galaviz of Toppenish, Steven (Marie) Galaviz of Burien, WA and Valentino (Julie) Galaviz of Burien; five step-daughters, Diane Castanada of Mabton, Sara Galaviz of Sunnyside, Vicky (George) Garza of San Antonio, TX, Lily (Aurelio) Bermudez of Sunnyside, and Angie (Dan) Harris of Sunnyside; five brothers, Juan Aguilar of Mabton, Felix (Louise) Aguilar of Texas, Albert (Yolanda) Carranza of Auburn, WA, Arthur (Mary Ann) Carranza of Mabton, and Simon (Diane) Carranza of Eugene, OR; four sisters, Josephine Rodriguez of Grandview, Minnie (Pete) Alvarado of Mabton, Mary (Mac) Gamboa of Sunnyside, and Virginia Molina of Mabton; 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 31 step-grandchildren and 34 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, a sister, 2 brothers, and a step-son.

Viewing will be held at the Sunnyside Chapel of Valley Hills Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary will be at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at Mabton Grace Brethren Church with burial to follow in the Mabton City Cemetery.
