Born on December 11, 1932, he was the son of the late Raymond L. and Lilly P. (McAllister) Abbott.
He retired from the United States Navy after 20 years, serving in Korea and Vietnam. Following his retirement from the Navy, he worked in maintenance for the York Container Company. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, York.
He is survived by a sister, Eleanor Henry of York; two nephews, Curvin Wolfgang of East Prospect and Dave Abbott of York; and three nieces, Maryann Holtz of York, Pat Missiel of South Carolina, and Linda Thieme of York.
