Henrietta "Hettie" Stinson Pruitt, 5th of the 13 known children of Charles W. Stinson and Susannah "Susan" Cline, was born November 15, 1863, probably in Grayson County, Kentucky. She appeared as a 13 year old in the 1880 Census of Caneyville, Grayson Couty, Kentucky. She was the wife of James Newton Pruitt, the son of James Payton Pruitt and Margaret Pullen of Grayson County.

They were the parents of:
Less; Lula, (m/1. Willis Embry, m/2. Willie Robert Bozarth); Melissa; Annie; and Jesse (m. Mary Margaret Kiper).
