GI's Wife Dies, Probe Is Planned
The coroner's office has scheduled an autopsy for today to determine what caused the death of Mrs. Geraldine Fields, 23, of 2419 P Street who died last night as an ambulance was taking her to the emergency hospital.
Her husband, Harold, a McClellan Air Force Base airman, told the police he was in the bathroom when he heard his wife make a snoring sound. When he entered the room, he stated, she was laying across the bed frothing from the mouth.
He called the police and then tried to aid her. She was pronounced dead in the emergency hospital.
Fields said his wife was packed for a trip to the home of relatives in Modesto when she collapsed. She planned to attend a family reunion this weekend.
Mrs. Fields was employed by the department of motor vehicles. The couple have a daughter, Gwynneth Anne, 4.
