Leo Wayne Beard, 71, of Decatur, a World War II Army veteran,
died Monday, April 22, 2002, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
The Van Wert County, Ohio, native retired from Martin
International in Fort Wayne as a truck driver after 15 years of
service. He was a member of Decatur United Brethren in Christ
Church, American Legion Post 43, Loyal Order of Moose 1311 and
Old Fashion Farmers Association. Surviving are a daughter, Nancy
Rumschlag of Decatur; his companion, Barbara Hunnicutt of
Willshire, Ohio; a sister, Lola M. Beard of Convoy, Ohio; brothers
Robert and Bill, both of Monroeville, and Russell of Convoy, Ohio;
and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty,
and two brothers. Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Haggard & Sefton
Funeral Home, Decatur, with calling from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday
with an 8 p.m. Moose Service. Burial with military graveside
services will be at Decatur Cemetery. Memorials are to the church
or American Legion Post 43 Color Guard.
