Mr. Virgil E. Weldon, 78, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2009 at The Villages Regional Hospital. He was born in Empire, Alabama and moved to Summerfield from Dora, Alabama 2 1/2 years ago. He retired from the United States Army after 22 years of service where he fought in the Korean Conflict and 2 tours of Viet Nam. He then spent 19 years as a Supervisor for Fairfax County, VA. Mr. Weldon loved fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rose Marie, Summerfiled, 3 sons, Martin H. Weldon, Jacksonville, Ala., Robert L. Weldon, Harrisburg, Va., and Richard D. Weldon, Summerfield, FL., 1 brother, Jimmy Weldon, Empire, Ala., 2 sisters, Irene Wilson, Jasper, Ala., and Opal Smith, Dora, Ala., 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
