Richard was born May 16, 1946, in Rochester, to Walter and Esther Broten. He proudly served in the Army during the late 1960s in Germany. Richard married Lou Ann Lamp in Grand Meadow on May 26, 1973. He enjoyed motorcycling, fishing, and fixing things. He especially enjoyed going to garage sales.
Richard is survived by his wife, Lou Ann; two daughters, Tanya (Phillip) Teaney of Garland, Texas, and Amy Broten of Rochester; three siblings, Walter (Jeanette) Broten Jr. of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Harry (Eileen) Broten of Spring Valley and Joyce (Dick) Dwyer of Rochester; and two grandchildren, Zoey Broten and Joseph Teaney.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Steve; two sisters, Dorothy and Julie; and one brother, Stan.
Burial with military honors in Grandview Memorial Gardens.
