On Wednesday evening last the train load of cattle belonging to Henry Wehrman was shipped to Chicago, was accompanied by two of his sons and William Wehrman, his nephew. On Thursday morning word was received in town of the death of William Wehrman, being killed by the train upon which he was riding. No further particulars were received until next day, when Albert Overton returned with the body.

The particulars of the sad and heart rending accident seems to be like this. While the train load of cattle were being fed and watered at Galesburg, Illinois, and while is was still quite dark. The deceased in running on top of the cars from one to another, missed his footing and fell between, striking upon the bumpers, which pitched him across the rail in such a manner, that the moving train caused two cars to pass over his body in such a way as to cut off his right arm and sever the body in two near the loins. Death was of course instantaneous.

It was indeed a most sickening and shocking accident, which deeply touched the family and life of Mr. Henry Wehrman and family, to whom they were greatly attached.

The funeral took place from the Evangelical church (sic) at this place on Saturday morning. The remains were interred in the Edgar cemetery (sic), where the father, mother and other relatives of the deceased had been buried.
