Mr. Hook died on Sunday, June 21, 2009. Born October 16, 1924 in Lexington County, SC, he was the son of the late Reedy Olin Hook, Sr. and Mertice Boozer Hook. He retired in 1988 from Inland Container Corporation in Lexington and was a former employee of Lock Joint Pipe Company (Interpace Corporation) in Columbia, SC. He was a member of Red Bank United Methodist Church where he served on many committees, sang in the church choir, was a former member of the Men's Club, a charter member of the Sunlighters Senior Citizens Group and a member of the John Wesley Fellowship Sunday School class. He was a member of the Lexington American Legion Post 7. Mr. Hook served three years in the United States Army. A veteran of World War II with a Tour of the Pacific, he was discharged as a Buck Sgt. in the 169th Infantry, 43rd Division.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Colene Smith Hook of Lexington; son, Terry Hook (Shawn); daughters, Kristie Joyner (Gene) all of Lexington and daughter, Anita Kilmury (Bruce) of Conway, SC. Also surviving are grandsons, Joe Joyner (Megan), Jeremy Joyner (Shelley), Stanley Hook and Tyler Hook all of Lexington and Wayne Kilmury of Conway, SC and one great-grandson, Jackson Joyner of Lexington. Mr. Hook is also survived by brother, Johnny Hook of Lexington; a sister, Edith Arledge (Jack) of Mills River, NC and sister-in-law, Bettie Hook of Ravenel, SC and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, R. O. Hook, Jr. of Ravenel, SC and sister-in-law, Wilma Hook of Lexington. He also leaves behind his loving feline companion, Prissy. The family would like to thank Dr. John Black, Dr. Barry Feldman, Hospice Care of Tri-County, Lexington Senior Center and their staffs. A special thanks also goes to his caregivers, Kelley Plemmons and Phyllis Sweat.
