FATHER AND DAUGHTER
ARE HELD IN MURDER

Grady Carson Shot to Death
During Altercation in Fair
Street Restaurant

Funeral services for Grady Carson, 34, of 348 Fair street, shot to death Wednesday night in a Fair street restaurant, will be held at the Emanuel Baptist church at 4 o'clock this afternoon, with the Rev. G.B. Blore conducting the services. Interment will be in Sylvester cemetery.

Detectives Fred Battle and J.W. Cody arrested George Finch, 45, a textile worker, on suspicion of murder and Inez Finch, his 19-year-old daughter, also of 348 Fair street, is held for questioning.

Finch was quoted by the officers as saying his daughter and Carson had recently become acquainted and that he objected to the friendship. He said, according to the officers, that he went Wednesday night to a restaurant and shortly after he arrived there, a bystander told him Carson was looking for him with a knife.

The daughter was quoted by police as saying she was standing beside Carson at the time of the shooting.

Detectives Battle and Cody were off duty at the time the shooting report came into the police station. They went to the Fair street restaurant and arrested Finch.

Last year Carson was arrested for shooting his estranged wife and her mother.

Carson is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Carson; three brothers, H.C., C.C., and C.O. Carson, and three sisters, Mrs. W.H. Long, Mrs. R. Harris and Mrs. Maggie Collins. The entire family lives in Atlanta.
