Mrs. Alma Darden Marshall, age 97, died Sunday morning July 19, in the Hermiage Methodist Home Richmond, Virginia.
Mrs. Marshall was a native of Isle of Wight County and a life long resident of the of Smithfield. She was the daughter of the late Julius Ceasar Darden and Lucy Anne Turner Darden, the widow of Dr. John Sidney Marshall.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. A member of the WSCS of the curch, a member of the Smithfield Woman's CLub and the Smithfield Shakespeare Club.
She is survived by two sons, John S. Marshall, Jr., of Lake Harmony, Pennsylvania and Julius Darden Marshall of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, also a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, July 21, at 3:00 p.m. in Ivy Hill Cemetery, Smithfiled, by the Rev. C. Warner Crum, Hermitage Methodist Home assisted by Dr. C. Fred Williams.
In lieu of flowers the family requested remembrances be sent to the Hermitage Methodist Home 1600 Westwood Avenue, Richmond, Virgina, or to a favorite charity.
The family was at the home ofMr. & Mrs. Howard W. Gwaltney, 309 S. Church Street, Smithfield.
Pallbearers were J. Travelers Edwards, George F. Whitley, Jr., Charles Henley Chapman, Decatur Gwaltney, Howard Gwaltney, Jr., Atwill Gwaltney, Robert Clay, Jr., A. T. Darden Jr."
