Caliste "Joe" Joseph Landry, Jr.
(September 20, 1926 - June 29, 2009)

A retired superintendent for National Maintenance at Dow Chemical and a member of Local Union 198, he passed away Monday, June 29, 2009, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. He was 82, a resident of Plaquemine and a native of White Castle. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Visiting at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Plaquemine, on Thursday, July 2, from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Jason Palermo, celebrant. Interment will be in Grace Memorial Park, Plaquemine. Survived by his wife of 54 years, Gloria Orcino Landry; two daughters and son-in-law, Mary Carmel Cain and Michael and Anne Landry; two sons and daughters-in-law, Caliste Joseph "Joey" Landry III and Gina, and Mark Anthony "Nena" Landry and Penny; sister, Elsie LeGlue; brother, Charles Landry; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Landry and husband Dustin, Josh and Nicholas Landry and Anna, Alex, Ashley Grace and Catherine Cain; and two great-grandchildren, Calise and Cinclare Landry. Preceded in death by his parents, Caliste Joseph and Angelic Callahan Landry; two sisters, Margarat and Velsie; nine brothers, Abbie, Leslie "T-Les," Allen, Atlas, Raleigh, Davis, Alge Sr., Jerry and Dudley "T-Dud" Landry; and granddaughter, Kimberly Anne Landry. He was an usher at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, loved to garden and read, but most of all he loved his family; they were the center of his life. Special thanks to the 4th floor Oncology Unit at Baton Rouge General Medical Center, Dr. Green, Dr. Castine and the Rev. Cleo Milano.
