Mrs. Rowland died Friday, June 26, 2009.
She was born Dec. 22, 1918, at the family farm southwest of Burns, the daughter of Alfred and Leola Maud Stebbins Guggisberg. She was a 1937 graduate of Burns High School.
Mrs. Rowland and her husband began their married life in rural Burns, later moving north of Admire in Lyon County. They moved northwest of Emporia in 1951.
She and her husband were founding members of Grace Bible Church. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, the Cottonwood Friends Church and its Missionary Society and the Prairie Hill Unit.
She married Grant Wesley Rowland on Feb. 19, 1940, in Lyons. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include a brother, Carl Guggisberg, Lawrence; a sister, Lela Virgil, Torrance, Calif.; a son, Jerald Rowland, Emporia; two daughters, Juanita Rees, Emporia, and Sandra Robison, Lawrence; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
