BURNHAM: Erving K. Curtis, 89, of Burnham, died Feb. 11, 2007, at Inland Hospital in Waterville. He was born Sept. 18, 1917, in Jackson, son of Albert and Arlette (Hamlin) Curtis.
Erving was a U.S. Army veteran serving for 30 months as a mail orderly with Battery A 363rd Coast Artillery Searchlight Battalion. He received, sorted and distributed mail in Battery. He sold stamps and other postal supplies, insured and registered mail. He worked at Penobscot Hatchery and in the woods. Erving enjoyed gardening, riding his lawn mower, raking, hunting and fishing, and in his younger years he golfed.

Erving was predeceased by his wife, Ferne Curtis in 1981; as well as his parents; sisters, Martha Marden, Sylvina McCormick, Eva Palmer, Bertha Elwell and Roselie Herrick; and brothers, Frank, Charles, Joe, Henry, Allen, Mark and Robert.
Survivors include his companion of 24 years, Thelma Patterson; his children, Sandra Sargent and husband, Peter, Delton Curtis and wife, Becky, and Sherry Littlefield and husband, Rodger; brothers James Curtis and wife, Margaret, and Francis Curtis and wife, Marie; grandchildren, Holly Curtis and Charity Vines; great-grandchildren, Zachary Collier, Samuel Dakin, Brenna and Hunter Vines; several nieces and nephews; Linda Patterson and family, Robert and Rosemary Overlock and family, Jim and Jane Reny and family, Jane Patterson Brann and family, Jasper Patterson Beam and family, Freeman and Mary Patterson and family, Alan and Suzanne Hewins and family, Lincoln Hunter McAlpine. Erving loved little Lincoln, who came to visit his Grampie Erving every week with his mother, Sara Sue Hewins.
Special thanks to Inland Hospital and Erving's doctors and nurses for their excellent care. Special thanks to Pastor Ron Brousseau for his many visits, phone calls and prayers. The Patterson family gives special thanks to Erving for 24 years of love and laughter he brought to our family. His journey on Earth is over, but he will never be forgotten by us. With our wonderful memories of him, we will always remember his smile, his laughter and his kind and gentle ways. We love you and may you rest in peace.
